The title of this concert, Renaissance to Rag, says it all. Southern Sinfonia Chamber Brass with works by Addison, Peuerl, Lilburn, Gardner, Gabrieli, Parker, Bizet and Simon. The instrumentalists are: Ronald Caldwell and Ralph Miller on Trumpets, Nigel Finney on French Horn, and William Henderson on Trombone.

Romantic Indulgences, to be performed by Sinfonia Piano and Strings, provides a contrast to the repertoire of the previous concert, presenting glorious music by Dvorak, Mendelssohn and Raff performed by our excellent players: Sandra Crawshaw on Piano; Charlotte Francis and Alex Vaatstra on Violin, and David Murray on Cello.

The Royal New Zealand Ballet: La Sylphide
13 and 14 August 2009

Created by Danish-born choreographer August Bournonville in 1836, La Sylphide is considered the quintessential ballet of the nineteenth century's Romantic period.

The concert opens with Dances from Napoli, which highlights Bournonville's choreography from his ballet Napoli, including the love duet, Flower Festival of Genzano pas de deux.

Gilbert and Sullivan: The Yeomen of the Guard
October 2009

The Really Authentic Gilbert and Sullivan Performance Trust (RAGSPT) is presenting the entire G&S repertoire in Dunedin in chronological order over the 11-year period 2002-2012. In October 2009, the tenth opera, The Yeomen of the Guard, is scheduled for performance with an exciting cast.

Emma Fraser plays Elsie, with fine young UK lyric baritone Giles Davies as Jack Point and tenor Stephen Brown in the role of Colonel Fairfax.

The City of Dunedin Choir, supported by the Southern Sinfonia, presents Handel's Messiah.

The soloists are soprano Emma Fraser, mezzo-soprano Kate Spence, tenor David Hamilton and baritone Robert Tucker, and the conductor is David Burchell.
